What is Radiesse?

Radiesse® is a dermal filler made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. Once injected into your skin, Radiesse dermal filler works with your own body in a remarkable way. Upon injection, it immediately adds volume to safely contour, correct, and beautify your skin. Unlike other fillers, Radiesse dermal filler continues to work over time.

 

The Radiesse forms a scaffold structure in the skin and with its patented microsphere technology,starts a process called collagenesis, stimulating your body to produce new collagen by encouraging collagen to grow around the the injection area. After a while the scaffold is naturally broken down by the body leaving behind the new collagen.

 

Is it safe?

RADIESSE dermal filler has been clinically tested extensively for years, with excellent safety and efficacy results. It has received CE mark certification, two FDA approvals, and a number of FDA clearances. RADIESSE dermal filler is made from a biocompatible substance that’s identical to what’s naturally found in the body.

 

What happens during the treatment?

The treatment is straight forward and uses a very fine needle to place small amounts of Radiesse beneath the surface of the skin in your hands. The treatment takes about twenty minutes and is has minimal discomfort as a local anaesthetic is used during the treatment. It is advised to continue to massage the areas after injection but most people find that they can return to work soon after the procedure.

 

What Results can be expected?

Radiesse treatments should last between 18 months and 2 years before retreatment will be required. Although most patients achieve an impressive result after the first treatment, a small touch up treatment may be required at about 3-4 months after the initial Radiesse Hand treatment.
